Their facility is set-up to manufacture, blend, pack and process a wide range of chemical products designed for a variety of industrial / commercial and retail applications including Personal Care & Industrial Chemicals They currently have a vacancy for a Technical Manager. The position is a full-time permanent role and will be based near Chester. Job Purpose The central purpose of the Technical Manager is ensure that the technical capacity and competency aligned to the company's commercial commitments, business plan and strategic direction and is in compliance with regulatory, legal issues and Quality accreditations Key Responsibilities The Technical Manager will be responsible for managing the innovation and creation of new products. The company has a strategy to grow the business quickly. In order to assist the Sales team, the Technical Manager will provide support and guidance to a formulation chemist and where demand dictates you will be required to formulate new productsFormulations are expected to meet the performance requirements of the brief and benchmark sample, must be stable and use suitable raw materials for the intended application. As part of this process you will be required to analyse benchmark samples for physical properties and where appropriate use analytical techniques to determine the compositionFollowing release of new products the Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing all first blends and ensuring that all first production runs are reviewed to eliminate any future problems.The Technical Manager also provides support to the manufacturing facility to assist with trouble shooting (blend amendments/adjustments/ investigation of non-conformance)The Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and auditing of the quality management system and is required to provide support and guidance to the Quality Systems Manager and Quality AdministratorThere is an expectation that the Technical Manager will be familiar with the relevant legislation governing both existing and new products and will be capable of writing safety data sheets. Our client has implemented GHS Pro to assist with the production of safety data sheets and label templates Qualifications and Experience BSc in Chemistry (or equivalent / similar)Solid experience of formulating personal care products and industrial productsExperience of managing a teamFamiliar with plant scale up processExperience of directing a robust quality management system (BRC, GMP or ISO)Experience of writing SDS and familiarity with chemical legislation is desirableStrong communicator both internally (colleagues) and externally (Suppliers and Customers) In return our client is offering a competitive package including a basic salary between £36,000 and £40,000 per annum plus benefits.
