Apply now The opportunity Bloomsbury Publishing's Royalties Department is responsible for preparing royalty statements and making advance and royalty payments to Bloomsbury's authors around the world. This role will partner with both consumer and non-consumer teams within our Bloomsbury US list to ensure that royalties are paid accurately and on time, queries are dealt with professionally and that both editorial and management are provided with high quality analysis of royalty data and trends to assist in decision making. The candidate will require strong Excel capability, good communication skills and experience of royalties within the publishing industry. The role Set up supplier details on accounting systemMonthly review and clearing of items from exception reportsProvision of monthly reports and analysis to editorial and management teams [e.g. on royalties variances/unearned balances/missing contracts, etc.]Co-ordination with UK/US counterpart on intercompany royalty accounting to ensure full royalty coverage Process adjustments for intercompany sales and royaltiesMonthly preparation of royalty and sales data from digital academic platforms and other channelsActive participation in all aspects of half-yearly royalty runs to ensure payments to authors are accurate and made on timeDeal with and resolve royalty queries from authors and editors in a professional and timely mannerAssist with integration of new acquisitions into the royalty systemAd-hoc tasks as and when required Skills, knowledge, experience Royalties experience, ideally in trade or academic publishingStrong Excel skills - pivots, v-look-ups, etc.Strong numeracy skillsAbility to work at speed and accurately Good communication skillsGood time management and organisational skills Familiarity with royalty and accounting systemsExperience of data processing using Microsoft Access/ExcelUnderstanding of double entry book-keeping and general accounting desirable The role is a full-time permanent position, based at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP.
