If so, and you have experience in a management, team lead or supervisory position, the role of Purchasing Manager for this Derby-based manufacturing & logistics firm could be the next step you seek. This is a full-time, permanent position and a Full Driving Licence is essential. Some overseas travel will be required, but this will be infrequent. The role: You will manage two Procurement Officers on a day to day basis, including setting targets & KPI's and managing their performance. This position will involve negotiating with suppliers at all levels to meet ongoing & challenging cost-saving targets, without compromising quality or delivery schedules. Previous experience in a similar role is deemed essential to ensure credibility when negotiating cost savings within the supply chain. You must have the confidence and ability to work on your own initiative and be able to prioritise the workload of your department within a time-bound & sometimes pressurised environment. Good communication and rapport-building skills are equally essential as the role will involve liaising directly with suppliers and colleagues at all levels. The ability to manage conflicting demands effectively is critical, balancing both supplier and internal department requests to meet business goals. The ideal candidate: You will have a proven track record working within purchasing and a recognised purchasing accreditation, CIPS would be preferable but is not essential.You will have experience of the day to day management and leadership of othersYou will have strong negotiation skills and excellent communication skillsYou will be able to readily provide examples of previous cost saving initiatives that were driven by you directly and the outcome of these.Experience of purchasing within a packaging environment would be desirable.Internal training on the bespoke MRP system will be provided, but MRP experience is essential.
