As the Packaging Technologist, you will be supporting the development of new products from ideation right through to production. Client Details This leading FMCG business are a well-established consumer brand based in the Northamptonshire area & are vested in ensuring they continue to improve market positioning. As the Packaging Technologist, you will be working with key stakeholders across the end to end process. Description As the Packaging Technologist you have the chance to support a technical team with product improvements & new and exciting NPD projects. You will be interacting with multiple functions inside the business including the wider technical, supply chain & manufacturing teams. Key Responsibilities: Working within the Package Engineering function to develop new product ranges to ensure new products and associated components are manufactured on time & to agreed design, time & cost parametersLiaising with Sourcing & with component vendors to ensure specifications are metSupporting the print ready process by managing the Technical relationship between the Artwork studio and component vendors to ensure design specifications are metProviding technical cover for the Category when and where necessaryManaging the technical packaging tasks for NPD projects within the defined category through to delivery on time and in full and on budget for their assigned projects Ensuring understanding, creation and approval of Bill of Materials, Artwork Briefs, Development Schedules and Production Standards as requiredCompiling & complete accurate component & packaging specificationsInstigating and attend Line Trials & first production runsAssisting Senior Technologist in tooling acceptance trials and certify production standardsCoordinating technical input & involvement from all areas of the supply chain (suppliers, sourcing, manufacturing, transportation & branch)Gaining understanding of production equipment & its capability Profile A NPD/Packaging specialist with experience with a FMCG/consumer products and the following: HND or Engineering/Packaging related degreeIdeally working towards Institute of Packaging (IoP/IOM3) DiplomaGood working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD an advantage (but not prerequisite)Familiarity with IT based New Product software toolsThe ability to negotiate compromises between most Production and Supply Chain departmentsIdeally experienced in a Manufacturing environmentStrong team working & project management skillsExcellent communication skills Job Offer Circa £32,000 - £39,000 + Additional Benefits
