To also provide traditional consultancy to customers within a project or programme environment. To assist with defining and planning technical strategy, standards and our future services roadmap. Your job will be… Assisting in defining, planning and implementing all technical services and standardsAssisting in the pre-sales process to ensure designs fulfil both customer requirements and operational standardsWorking within project teams as a technical subject matter expert (SME), assisting in solution scoping, design and deployment, and support transitionReviewing and recommending new technologies for potential inclusion into services or customer environmentsHands on configuration of complex and custom components for project implementations and service improvements/changesConsulting with new and existing customers to deliver value added professional services such as capacity planning, security audits, performance optimisation, customer premise deployments and migrationsAssisting in developing and implementing Information Security standards and proceduresCreating comprehensive technical documentation (including standards) within core competency areas, for internal and external useMembership of On-call/out-of-hours escalation team (where required)Presentation of written or oral reports, including proposal creation, to internal and external stakeholdersPresentation of services to internal and external stakeholders including prospective customersAssisting in development of best technical and operational practice relating to business operations, and promotion of agreed processes and proceduresAccurate and timely completion of time recording where requiredAttending Change Management meetings when requiredEnsuring that all changes are conducted within appropriate business and customer change controlsInput into, and assistance with, definition, management and implementation of Disaster Recovery and Managed Services Disaster Recovery proceduresAdvising management team of any improvements to working practices or beneficial technical changes recommended to improve the performance, service resilience and cost effectiveness of servicesIdentification and reporting of security threats, vulnerabilities and breaches in accordance with security policies within core competency areasProviding root cause and forensic analysis of security breaches and service outagesProviding advice and recommendations on security risk treatment and technical security controlsOn-site attendance at customer sites Your will need… Essential: o 4 years+ experience in technical consultancy role, ideally in a client facing commercial organisation o Experience of technical environments - Data centre hosting, virtualisation, networking, authentication and security o Significant experience of all aspects of complex physical and virtual networking infrastructure in a multi tenanted environment o Hands-on, pro-active approach to consultancy and support assistance o Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills o Technical design and testing plan creation experience o Report generation and statistical analysis experience In depth knowledge of the following: o Multi-Tenanted environments o Cisco Nexus switches o Configuring vPCs and related L2 connectivity o Cisco ASA 5585 clustering o Spanning Tree Protocol - RSTP and MSTP o QoS and CoS experience o IP telephony deployments - vendor not important but need to have provisioned networks for IPT deployments o Datacentre Interconnects o Deploying and maintaining WAN networks - IP and Ethernet WANs o Managing WAN providers and installations o Authentication methods, including 2FA, AD, RADIUS and certificate based authentication o Security best practice awareness and investigation (including penetration testing method and network hardening, IPS / IDS, IPSEC and SSL VPNs) o Web and content filtering o Load balancing o Firewalling Working knowledge of: o OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP routing o Overlay technologies including OTV and VXLAN o Dell networking kit o Public Cloud AzureAWS o ISO, G-Cloud and PSN standards and requirements Desirable: o Experience in a commercial IT Solutions provider or Managed Services environment o Solarwinds experience o Recent technical qualifications o Experience of working in small to large client facing projects o Ability to thrive in a dynamic and busy environment o Awareness of commercial aspects to projects o Understanding of the need for comprehensive support transition
