Apply on employer's website PRS for Music currently has a rare opportunity for an in-house competition & commercial lawyer. The role provides advice to PRS for Music principally on competition issues and on a range of commercial matters including International contracts, corporate transactions, privacy and data protection. Primarily you will advise on competition issues including merger control and behavioural matters across the PRS Group. You will also assist in responding to UK & EU regulatory investigations and implement competition compliance policies and training company wide. This role will also involve: Conducting commercial negotiations and drafting commercial agreements including agreements with international societies, service agreements, data sharing agreements and NDAsProviding legal advice to the business in relation to a wide range of commercial matters including copyright issues, data protection, privacy, and general commercial contractual issuesEnsuring the process for assessing the grant of PRS rights to entities pursuant to the PRS Rights Policy complies with the formal commitments given by PRS to the European CommissionAssist in ensuring legal compliance with key areas including data protection legislation and anti-bribery legislation; this includes responsibility for the development and maintenance of company policies and assisting with the management of legal riskAssisting with the agreements and corporate governance associated with PRS Group companies The successful applicant for this role will be: Qualified solicitor (1-4PQE) with relevant competition and commercial experience with an interest in copyright lawDegree level qualified LLB in Law or equivalentProficient using Microsoft Office Additionally you will require excellent in written and verbal communication liaising with colleagues and internal clients at all levels, external professionals, members and the public. You will have good working knowledge of intellectual property law and drafting commercial contracts. Experience gained in-house and/or in private practice of advising on competition issues and investigations, with experience of some or all of corporate, IP, commercial, data, privacy and international law is essential. Knowledge of the music industry is an advantage but not essential.
