About the role Two vacancies exist for experienced Electrical Technicians to join the STFC Engineering Technology Centre (ETC). You will be part of a team responsible for delivering complex electrical engineering solutions for a variety of collaborative science projects. This will involve the specification, procurement, system integration, installation and commissioning of engineering systems to be located at various international science facilities. The role of the Electrical Engineering Group within the ETC is to provide the necessary specialist engineers, designers and technicians to successfully deliver the Accelerator Science, Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics programs. The group requires electrical technicians with electrical system installation/integration and fault diagnostic experience to support high profile projects associated with particle accelerators, light sources, laser facilities and scientific instrumentation. Working closely with the Electrical Project Manager, you will: utilise their practical experience and knowledge to install, maintain and repair electrical systems and control equipment and ensuring conformity with IEC/British and STFC engineering standardshave the ability to interpret electrical wiring and schematic drawings to allow effective communication with the project teambe able to efficiently assemble and wire instrumentation racks to detailed electrical drawingswire check and fault find electrical systems, including instrumentation and electrical distribution equipmentinstall and certify low voltage AC distribution, ensuring conformity to the current wiring regulationsoversee and control the work of junior staff and contractorswrite specific risk assessments and method statements relating to the technicians role About You You will have a minimum of Ordinary National Certificate or Diploma in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent in a relevant discipline. You must have practical experience of installing and testing electrical equipment services. You will also have a good understanding of AC distribution and hold a valid C&G2382 17th edition and 2392 Inspection & Testing. You must be familiar with British and/or European electrical standards. You will have significant experience in planning and completing work to defined timescales, the procurement of electrical or electronic equipment and fault finding on electrical systems.
