Apply now DevOps Engineer - AWS Linux & Windows Environment - Web Team This is a rather unique opportunity! You will be the sole DevOps engineer sitting in a team of around 20 people (comprising of back-end and front-end developers, testers etc.), that look after our client's global website estate. This is a unique opportunity as you will be working within the web/digital 'bubble' within what is a much more corporate organisation (5500 strong in the UK). Our client's online presence is key to their business with one of the websites alone getting 1.2million hits per month. Tech stack: Due to our client's websites being primarily C#.NET based the infrastructure has traditionally been a heavy Microsoft Server environment. Over the last 12 months or so the organisation has been investing heavily in AWS and have built Windows and Linux server silos within the AWS ecosystem. Increasingly when decisions are being made around which DevOps tools and products to select Linux or even serverless environments or PaaS applications are being chosen based on speed, reliability and importantly cost. So, in summary, whilst the environment has been traditionally Microsoft, the future is becoming more of a hybrid / Windows/ Linux and serverless estate. It will be important for you to have the mindset to work with development and support teams and different business units. Here is the current environment Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud for production and dev environmentsWindows AND Linux Servers hosted in AWSContinuous Integration (CI - Octopus Deploy & Team CityC#.NET applications that you will be running and configuring and troubleshooting - MsBuildElasticsearch - configuring clusters with production settingsKnowledge of SQL and configuring MySQL/MsSQL serversSetting up autoscaling on AWS or running a Lambda application and working with other more advanced concepts - open to your suggestion!Docker experience would be a big plus as this is a likely future projectPython Scripting skills will be useful Projects: Elasticsearch - potential move onto the Linux environmentServerless / Save money whilst keeping the performance going. Akamai maybe CloudFrontSQL Server 2008 R2 upgrade - upgrade to Amazon RDS?User capture information currently being stored on a Windows Server environment (which is expensive). Maybe look to store these directly into AWS S3Capture user interaction and use splunk/kabana for machine learning/big dataLook at simplifying the CI - use Docker?
