As a Delivery Manager, you will need to have experience of delivery using a variety of project management techniques, however at the heart of our client's offering is Agile so an in-depth knowledge of delivery using Agile is essential in order to meet with the client's expectations. You must understand and have experience of the key phases of an Agile project: Feasibility, Discovery and Delivery; understand how to manage risk and be able to ensure best practice with regards to SDLC. Through a deep knowledge of Agile, you will be responsible for the relevant ceremonies and have experience of using task management tools such as JIRA or VersionOne. Ideally, this role seeks Delivery Managers who come from a hands-on technical background, such as Infrastructure, Operations, Development, Assurance or Architecture. In your role, you need to be able to decipher technical jargon and potentially be 'hands-on' with certain delivery tasks. You must be a self-starter, motivated and be able to motivate others. Consultants are commonly required to manage a variety of teams, from a fully resourced team located either in the client's premises or the client's site, to running hybrid teams and in some cases being the sole representative from our client, managing client/third party mixed teams. It is the job of a Delivery Manager to make a contribution to the delivery by ensuring that they are actively working towards a no surprises delivery. The delivery teams look to the Delivery manager to be ahead of the game when it comes to obstacles and blockers, be adaptable and resilient, have a high attention to detail and be adaptable whilst solving problems. As a client facing role, being able to bring together business and technical stakeholders is crucial to managing successful delivery. Delivery Managers must be able to communicate effectively and with different audiences, be able to manage upwardly and downwardly to a variety of stakeholders - from teams of Engineers, Product Owners and Analysts, to key representatives elsewhere in the business and outside of the delivery team.
