Apply now Community Manager £26,000 - £28,000 per annum 6 months fixed term Full time, 35 hrs per week The IET are seeking a confident and proactive Community Manager to join the Communities Team and support the development of a mixed portfolio of local and technical communities (both online and with physical activities). IET 'Communities' provide opportunities for like-minded people to network, share ideas and expertise, collaborate, learn and keep abreast of news and views. As a Community Manager you will take responsibility for driving engagement with online communities using the IET's Engineering Communities platform, empowering volunteers to develop, lead and promote thriving communities. You will take a proactive role in helping to identify future opportunities to develop and grow each community. The ideal candidate will have a track record in planning and developing online communities through social media or other in house platforms, using your creative and strategic mind to identify opportunity, develop plans and execute them. Experience in delivering physical community activity and content would also be advantageous. The Community Manager will have outstanding communication skills and plenty of initiative! You will join a friendly, dynamic international team of Community Managers with a wide range of backgrounds and experience. The Community Managers work a lot with volunteers and so you will have some volunteer management experience. However, a good attitude and a willingness to learn volunteer management as a part of your role, mixed with some stakeholder management will be just as good! Main Duties and Responsibilities Support, develop and grow a portfolio of IET communitiesEstablish a friendly and professional working relationship with volunteers, empowering them to lead their communities, articulate a vision and develop a strategyProvide guidance and strategic support in order to enable the communities to fulfil their potential in delivering the IET strategyImplement strategies for topic development and collaboration between Community Development and Events ProductionWork with Technical Professional Networks to help volunteers develop topic ideas, ensuring that they are connected to other areas of the IET as appropriateManage and moderate all elements of online community portfolio, both directly and by engaging volunteers in community leadership and moderationImplement strategic reviews within the Community Development team as required by Communities Development ManagerEnsure that volunteers are aware of the scope of the IET's work and those opportunities for future activities and potential new products are developed in consultation with colleagues from across the IETWork proactively with Community Communications Manager to ensure knowledge of communities is shared and volunteers are informed of everything that affects their operationWork proactively with colleagues in Communications and Marketing to feature and maximise impact of quality content and increase the profile of community contributorsEnsure Marketing Executives have accurate and relevant information to enable them to promote Technical Professional Network events in a timely manner and with logistics colleagues to ensure events deliver to objectivesTo work in a collaborative manner that exhibits trust, honesty, and a one-team spirit Person Specifications Essential Criteria: GCSE maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent;Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience of developing and managing online communitiesDemonstrable experience of generating topics for eventsPlanning skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlinesAbility to assimilate complex information quicklyAbility to act on own initiative and problem solve as well as work effectively as part of a teamExcellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, persuade and motivate at all levelsExperience of participating in online communities (even in a personal capacity) Desirable: Experience of working with committees and/or volunteersProject management skillInterest in engineering and technology with a good understanding of the current challenged faced by industry and academiaExperience of developing and managing online communitiesExperience of working with committees and/or volunteers
