We work with every government department, agencies and think tanks. Our work has a direct bearing on the decisions made by government, organisations and citizens. The Role We are recruiting for an Associate Director to join our Employment, Welfare and Skills team - one of our biggest and fastest growing research team. Our work is diverse, encompassing research and evaluation on key government policies such as the Universal Credit, pensions and auto-enrolment, apprenticeship levy and the Industrial Strategy. Our clients include central government departments such as DWP, HMRC and BEIS, European agencies and think tanks. We are looking for an Associate Director with an interest in welfare, skills and business growth policies to lead research teams on projects, and to work with Research Directors to expand our business in the UK and internationally. We welcome applications from both quantitative and qualitative specialists. You must however enjoy working in a fast moving environment and have a passion for business development. You will also need to be self-motivated, have good client management skills, and possess the ability to lead teams. Key Responsibilities: Building strong client relationships across government and academiaHelping to grow specific areas of the business with senior supportDesigning and successfully delivering projects involving different research methodsDeveloping junior team members, including line managementWorking effectively with senior colleagues to shape the future direction of the team Skills and Experience: Demonstrable experience in quant and/or qual researchA passion for business development, including an ability to lead responses to ITTs, as well as identifying new market opportunities and building strong relationships with existing clientsProven ability to work well in teams with input from specialists (e.g. statisticians, evaluation practitioners, and economists)Interest in generating thought leadership through articles, papers and conference presentationsPolicy knowledge and expertise in relevant areas or proven ability to pick up new policy areas quicklyExcellent project direction and budgeting skills, working to tight and demanding deadlines to deliver profitable work and assure quality of all outputsExcellent communication skills, including the ability to write insightful and detailed presentations and reports, client handling and negotiation skillsInterest in developing junior members of the team to fulfil their potential Underlying all our work is a curiosity to get to grips with how people live and society can be improved.
